STEP to STL converter

Free, in your browser, no account.

Your file stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Drop your STEP or STP file on the box above, or click to choose it. It stays on your computer.
  2. Check the preview: every part in the file, where it sits in the file.
  3. Click Download STL, then open it in your slicer or mesh tool.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. Converting and downloading are free, with no account and no sign-up.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and the file is never sent to us. We count anonymous usage, such as how many parts a file had and how long it took, never the file or its name.

What happens to curved surfaces?

An STL can only hold flat triangles, so curved surfaces become many small facets. On parts up to 200 mm across they stay within about 0.1 mm of the true surface (0.05% of the size on larger parts). The preview shows exactly the triangles you get.

My STEP file has several parts. What do I get?

One STL with every part in it, each where it sits in the STEP file.

Will the STL be watertight?

Where the STEP holds a valid closed solid, the STL is closed too: the converter checks every part and tells you if one has gaps.

How large can my file be?

Up to 25 MB. Very detailed files take longer. The page shows its progress, and you can cancel.

Can I convert STL to STEP?

Yes, with the STL to STEP converter.
